Redesigned Create Widget dialog
The Create Widget dialog has been redesigned to make it easier to find the widget you want. Widgets are now grouped into categories, and each widget has a preview showing what it looks like. The widget titles and descriptions have also been improved.
You can also browse all the widgets on the Renewed Tab website.
Easier to find feeds
There’s a new feed picker, where you can choose from over 90 suggested feeds grouped by category. You can also enter a web page’s URL and it’ll find associated feeds, no need to dig around for the exact RSS link.
Cards style for feeds
The Feed widget has a new “cards” style, designed to look a bit like “Recommended stories” in Firefox, but without the sponsorship nonsense!
Faster feed loading
Feeds and other widget data are now cached, so they show instantly when you open a new tab and update in the background.
Other changes
- Age: Added a time of birth option.
- Error messages from the Renewed Tab server are now translated.
- Fixed special characters showing incorrectly in feeds that don’t use UTF-8.
- Fixed some feeds failing to load on websites using a
www.subdomain.
